Darkglass Ultra Plugins

Overview

Darkglass Electronics has been handcrafting gear with the highest standards on the market, creating products that changed the way bass players craft their sound. Today NEURAL DSP is glad to introduce the official Darkglass Ultra Plugin series including two of their most famous products, the B7K Ultra and the Vintage Ultra.

Microtubes B7K Ultra [Original hardware features]

The Microtubes B7K Ultra features all the versatility and sonic possibilities its predecessor is known for plus amazing features:

  1. A dedicated Footswitch to engage the overdrive section independently.
  2. ‍A Master volume to control the overall unit level.
  3. ‍Three way toggle switches for each mid control, with a total of 6 different mid frequencies at your disposal the B7K Ultra allows you to create and tailor your tone to perfection: From crisp, punchy clean preamp to obliterating high gain distortion, and everything in between. The B7K is an universal tone crafting machine.
Vintage Ultra [Original hardware features]

The Vintage Ultra is the result of the finest engineering process we have ever accomplished. 40 years ago it was necessary to carry a massive amp to have a rich, tight and articulate sound for bass players. Today, all you need is a super portable preamp which enables on one side a massive clean sound, and from the other side, a tasty saturated sound. This is a true elixir for low-end lovers.

Specs

Plugin exclusive Features

On top of all the original features of the original pedals, we include:

  • Input and Output Gain knobs: Input will affect on how much signal the plugin will feed in. This will affect the amount of distortion range of the drive pot. Adjust according to your purposes and input signal levels. The output will affect on how much signal the plugin will feed out to your DAW channel. Meters will show if input or output signals are clipping by holding a red indicator for “X” seconds.
  • Link/Unlink EQ Switch: Originally the pedals come with a fixed EQ that will be applied to both Clean and Distorted Signal. With this new feature, it is possible to have different and independent EQ´s for each of them. Activate switch to make them independent.
  • Stereo Signal Processing Switch: Original hardware has the power to process only a mono input signal. With the Stereo switch you are able to process a Stereo input signal. Ideal for experimenting with new bass sounds, synths and more.
  • Quality Switch: Changes the quality with which the plugin will process the signal, based on different levels of oversampling (Specific numbers will be administered soon). The higher the quality more processing CPU power needed.
  • ‍VDU/B7K Switch, Change between both pedals inside the same plugin, each pedal will keep its own configurations, except for global plugin configurations such as Quality, Input, Output, Stereo, EQ and Resize.
  • ‍Resize Button, Toggles between the two different window sizes for the plugin. Allows to have a smaller or bigger view depending on your workflow needs.

Reviews

Within minutes of getting the Darkglass Ultra plugin, I had the bass sound sorted out for the record I was mixing that day. My life is all of a sudden easier, and not just easier… Better too!
Tue Madsen
It's a pleasure to work with Neural DSP as they continue to operate at the frontier of digital modeling technology, pushing the boundaries with cutting-edge algorithms, and creating the most realistic and efficient modelers on the market.
Ermin Hamidovic
It sounds phenomenal! I will be putting this to use immediately on some mixes and tracking projects... Love it!!
Mark Lewis
Finally, the magic of Darkglass comes to a plugin. The Darkglass Ultra plugin is powerful, creative tool that allows me to dial in that distinct pedal tone on anything and everything I desire.
Forrester Savell
Until now the idea of a Darkglass plugin has been just a fantasy for producer and engineers. Now it’s finally a reality and Neural DSP absolutely nailed it! The plugin is everything I wanted it to be and it only took a few seconds to realize it was going to be an important tool for me. To have a plugin of the B7K that sounds so good feels like some sort of magic. I can’t wait to see what else this company does!
Kane Churko
Loving it! Went straight into my mixes and immediately dethroned the old king of bass. So quick and easy to dial in a great bass tone with this thing and even if you’re doing it wrong it’ll sound right :) Feeling spoiled to get this kind of equipment in plugin form! (Hail to the new king!)
Henrik Udd
This is definitely my new go-to bass distortion plugin (bye bye to my previous bass plugin). It sounds absolutely crushing!! It also works great on a variety of sources (try it on vocals or drums room). It’s just perfect for mixing! I’m really curious what Neural DSP has to offer to the world.
Brett Caldas-Lima
I’m a huge fan of Darkglass pedals and have used the B7K on basically every record I’ve mixed in the last 3 years. It always “makes” the bass tone and glues it perfectly together with heavy guitars, so I’m incredibly happy to be able to use it anywhere I want in a mix and am beyond pleased with how accurately the plugin recreates the vibe of the physical units.
Jeff Dunne
Finally, someone made a bass plugin that actually sounds good! Darkglass pedals are great, but having the identical tone ITB for mixing is a god-damned godsend. It sounds dope on more than just bass too!
Sacha Laskow
As a long-time Darkglass user, Neural DSP has done the impossible by capturing the subtle nuances and tonal variations that made the flagship Vintage Deluxe & Darkglass B7K Ultra Pedals the leading tone-shaping option for professional Bassists worldwide. Through my work with Uncured, I have found that the transition from performing live with the Darkglass hardware to treating a DI in the studio with the Neural plug-ins, to be an effortless and accurate representation from one platform to the next.
Jon Kita
I have been singing the praises of the Darkglass pedals since I first used them and couldn't be more thrilled they're available in a plugin form. Neural DSP has done a great job with the modeling, and they sound fantastic. I'm very stoked to add them to my tracking and mixing toolbox
Josh Newell
We’ve been using the Darkglass b7k for the bulk of our sound since the beginning, and the Neural DSP Darkglass Ultra Plugin does complete justice in replicating the real deal! To continuously edit such great quality tones on the fly without going through the hassle of reamping every bass track is a producer's dream
