Quad Cortex - Quad Cortex Development Update #14

Formerly Quad Cortex Development Update - November 2020

Dear customers,

Today we are announcing a short delay to the shipment of Quad Cortex, which will affect pre-order customers and global dealer availability as well.

We know first hand how disappointing and frustrating delays can be.

We have been working tirelessly on Quad Cortex for almost three years - since we founded Neural DSP. Everything we’ve done, every remarkable person we have recruited, every software product launched, every deal, every cap raise, and event attended was done with the sole focus of creating Quad Cortex.

Trust us when we say: nobody wants to ship Quad Cortex more than we do.

With millions invested in R&D and manufacturing, we know that we are incredibly close to the finish line. However, we still have to go through the last mile to make sure everything is fantastic so that you get the product you’ve been dreaming of and so that all we’ve sacrificed and risked is worth it.

Our production line has fully assembled all of the pre-order units in Helsinki. Raw material to fulfill dealer requirements is in stock and currently being processed as planned.

Additionally, we have created over 300 factory Neural Captures that we will include on Quad Cortex. These won’t use up user-addressable slots. We have also added cloud backupssharing featuresIR loading, and much more. In August, we completed a funding round to expand operations, allowing us to do even more with the Cortex and plugin ecosystems.

In addition to an extensive Neural Captures factory library, we have almost completed porting all of the virtual devices. We are still working on some of the bass models but expect to have them ready by launch.

We are currently testing in-depth and optimizing:

  • Preset loading time: We significantly improved this by optimizing the communication between both SoCs, which was a major overhaul at this stage but the gains in performance were worth it.

  • USB audio: This is shaping up well. We are currently testing compatibility across different systems and ensuring performance (speed) is up to our standards.

  • Cloud: Cloud features are fully implemented, but we are stress testing it extensively to ensure stability. This covers everything from backups to IR uploading and Preset/Capture sharing. Collaboration is a big part of our vision, and these tests extend across Quad Cortex, web, and mobile platforms.

All in all, we have over 60 people working as hard as humanly possible on various aspects of Quad Cortex. We are feature complete except for the aforementioned components, which we are testing and optimizing.

We are incredibly close to the end now, and in our hearts, we know that it is a better decision to take as much time as needed to deliver you an excellent product. The devil is in the details, and we are making sure everything is astounding before shipping.

We will reach out soon to confirm your shipping details. We guarantee that pre-order customers will receive their shipment before global dealer availability.

We can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on.
