CorOS 3.2.0 and Cortex Control 1.3.0 are now available

We’re pleased to announce the release of CorOS 3.2.0 and Cortex Control 1.3.0. This update introduces Quad Cortex compatibility for Archetype: Cory Wong X, Archetype: Nolly X, and Parallax X, along with a range of highly requested features and quality-of-life improvements.

To take full advantage of these updates, we recommend that all Quad Cortex users install CorOS 3.2.0 and Cortex Control 1.3.0.

Additional Neural DSP plugins will become Quad Cortex-compatible as their supporting CorOS versions are released.

What’s new in CorOS 3.2.0

New features

Plugin Compatibility for Archetype: Cory Wong X, Archetype: Nolly X, and Parallax X

If you own licenses for these plugins, their devices are now available on Quad Cortex. For details, visit our Plugin Compatibility (PCOM) page.

You can also check the full list of available virtual devices on the Quad Cortex device list page.

Live Tuner

Accessible via the Tuner menu. When activated, it displays at the top of the Gig View.

Metronome

Accessible via the Tempo Menu.

‘Looper X’ Updates:

  • Pre-Roll: When activated, the Looper X Pre-Roll counts in with the metronome for a specified number of bars before triggering the transition to the next state, such as RECORD or PLAY state.

  • A 'Metronome Playback' switch now displays in the Looper X parameters.

  • Loop recording length can be customized, from 1 to 32 bars.

  • Looper X actions can now be reassigned to different footswitches via the contextual menu.

Sidechain Improvements

  • A new “Follow Input” setting has been added to Sidechain-compatible devices (S/C). When enabled, this option automatically detects and follows the active input signal from the Input blocks on The Grid. This helps prevent unintended muting when switching between different input sources.

  • Icons have been added to all available SOURCE and TRIGGER options to make them easier to identify and navigate.

General UX Improvements

  • Dimmed LEDs settings can now be assigned to all Modes, with adjustable brightness levels for better customization.

  • Previous/Next navigation arrows have been added to the Scene Editor, allowing quick editing of scene names and colors within the same Preset.

‘ESS’ Codec support

  • Starting August 2025, Quad Cortex will be manufactured with a new audio codec, due to the original component being discontinued. It’s important to note that this change does not affect or compromise the Quad Cortex’s audio quality.

  • Quad Cortex “ESS” variants no longer display TYPE Switches for INPUTS 1/2.‬‭ The signal now reaches both the TS and XLR parts of the Combo inputs, negating the need to‬ select the input type.

Note: In Quad Cortex Development Update #56, we stated that ESS codec support would be included in a separate CorOS update (3.1.1). However, due to last-minute issues identified by our Quality Assurance team, we postponed that release. Once the issues were resolved, CorOS 3.2.0 was nearly complete, so we chose to merge the two updates.

Changed

  • CorOS automatically adapts its ‘I/O Settings’ and ‘Neural Capture Calibration’ layouts based on the Quad Cortex’s codec type (‘Cirrus’ or ‘ESS’).

  • Sidechain devices in the Factory Presets have had their SOURCE and TRIGGER parameters updated to use the ‘Follow Input’ option by default.

  • In STOMP mode, tapping a device icon in Gig View now opens its parameter editor on The Grid.

  • The Settings menu has been reorganized into structured categories for improved accessibility.

  • The Downloads folders now support Multi-Selection, allowing for bulk actions.

  • The power function previously labeled ‘STANDBY’ has been renamed to ‘BE RIGHT BACK’.

Fixed

  • An issue where an excessive number of items in the Downloads Queue could lead to performance issues or system crashes. The queue is now limited to 200 items on Quad Cortex. Note: This limit does not affect your full Downloads History on Cortex Cloud—all previously downloaded items remain safe and accessible.

  • An issue where the ‘Recent’ folder was selectable while multi-select was enabled in the ‘Favorites’ folder within the Directory.

  • An issue where the Splitter became disabled in Crossover mode when the Frequency parameter was turned fully counter-clockwise.

  • An issue where oscillations and noise could be heard from the ‘Fortin® Nameless’ Amp device when the MVC and Gain controls were set to very high levels.

  • An issue where a momentary footswitch could end up in the opposite bypass state if held down while changing scenes in Scene/Stomp hybrid mode.

  • An issue where long Cab device names were cut off within the Cab parameter editor menu in Stomp mode.

  • An issue where replacing a device set to Momentary mode with a Freeze device would change the switching mode back to Latching.

  • An issue where the footswitch LEDs would shut off when editing the name of a Stomp in Gig View.

  • An issue where an additional bank was loaded after releasing the UP Arrow or DOWN Arrow footswitch following a long press in Preset, Scene, or Stomp modes.

  • An issue where the Source parameter setting would persist when switching between sidechain devices, until a device without a Source parameter was loaded.

  • An issue where a crash could occur when downloading legacy Cloud Backups.

  • Addressed several crash scenarios and stability issues.

  • Various minor bug fixes and performance improvements.

What’s new in Cortex Control 1.3.0

Cortex Control no longer displays ‘TYPE’ Switches for INPUTS 1/2 for Quad Cortex “ESS” variants.

Metronome

Accessible via the ‘TEMPO’ tab in the bottom utility bar.

Automatic Preset IR Import

When importing plugin presets via Cortex Control, any associated User Impulse Responses (IRs) are automatically transferred and imported to the Quad Cortex.

General UX Improvements

  • A new “Follow Input” setting has been added to Sidechain-compatible devices (S/C). Additionally, icons have been added to all available SOURCE and TRIGGER options, making it easier to identify and navigate through them.
